Spring Cleaning Your Skincare Cupboard
When the spring comes around, everyone seems to be clearing out their wardrobes to make room for summery skirts and crop tops. But what about our skincare?
When the weather starts changing, so does our skin! Heavy formulas and thick creams might start to feel a bit sticky when the sun comes out, so follow these simple steps to make sure your skincare routine is ready for Summer!

Cleanser
If you have an oily skin (all year round or just in the summer), a cleansing gel or milk will feel a lot lighter on the skin, compared to creams and balms. It’s all down to preference, but if you’re feeling a bit sweaty when doing your routine, have a look into lighter formulas.
Moisturiser
Summer is the perfect time for oil-free formulas and gel-like textures! If you’re oily, you’ll already be a pro in this department 😉. Switch your richer cream for something a bit lighter for the warmer weather. Oil free moisturisers are also great for those who struggle with makeup lasting, if your skin is too slippy, makeup tends not to stick as well.
SPF
Protecting your skin from the sun is always important, but now the sun is out for longer, you need to amp it up! Make sure you apply every morning without fail AND if you’re out and about during the day, try and top up if you can. A lot of brands such as La Roche Posay and Vichy now offer light sprays appropriate for top ups over makeup.

Acids
So, in terms of using acids, whether its in toner or serum form can cause sensitivity when it comes to the sun. This doesn’t mean you should stop using it in the summer, just be extra vigilant when it comes to SPF and reapply when you can.
Serums
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a great one to use during the warmer weather to retain the skin’s moisture, but you don’t need to go overboard! Unless you’re mega dehydrated, one product in your routine is enough, e.g. a hyaluronic acid serum followed by a moisturiser that doesn’t contain HA.
Vitamin C is another great serum for all year round, but especially for Summer! It is an amazing antioxidant for the skin PLUS it gives you that glow that we all want!
Mists
I love a hydrating mist in my routine all the time, but there is something so nice about a mist when it’s hot and sticky. Many brands offer them, with various skincare benefits such as hydration and glow, but they’re also really cooling so handy to have in your bag!
As always, we are here to give tips and tricks but make sure you cater your routine to what you want to achieve!
